Upper Green Bay Basin Monitoring Programs

Little Peshtigo River Monitors

This group has been monitoring since 2004 at 1 to 3 sites on the Little Peshtigo River. Their goals are:

  • to help ensure the water quality of the Little Peshtigo River
  • to observe the effects of local agricultural and/or other activities (natural and manmade) on the stream, and
  • to provide information for the database which the DNR or other scientific organizations may need.

Year 'round, on a monthly basis (as weather conditions allow), temperature, dissolved oxygen, stream flow, transparency, habitat, biotic index, and weather are monitored. Crayfish were monitored as part of the statewide crayfish survey in 2005. At sites up and downstream from the primary monitoring site, visual observations are occasionally made. Surrounding wetlands are also occasionally monitored visually. Data for the Little Peshtigo site are stored in WAV's online database. Search by Marinette County or by stream name.
