Sample Letter to Trainees


Below you will find a sample letter for trainees that should be sent a few weeks before the scheduled training session. You can copy and paste the letter into your local word processing program and edit to fit your local program's needs. Thanks to Suzanne Wade and Pete Jopke for providing the sample!

SUBJECT: Citizen Monitoring Training Agenda and Information

The training dates are confirmed for __[insert date(s) and location of training event]__for citizen stream monitoring training. __[indicate if there will be food provided during the training or if participants should bring their own, if the session occurs during a meal time]__. Equipment will be provided to you for the training session. Please bring your calendar or have an idea of a time and date when you plan to do your monitoring for the first time. Assistance is available to help you choose a monitoring site if you have not already done so. Please keep in mind that if your site is on private property, you need permission from the landowner.

Please note that all participants, or the parents or legal guardians of minors, will need to sign the enclosed liability waiver in order to participate in the monitoring program.

You should bring the following items with you to the training:
Hip boots/waders-If you do not have them, please let me know and I can borrow a pair for you to use for the training.
Please dress appropriately for the weather, as we will be in or near the creek for an extended period of time.
