Riveredge Ephemeral Pond Monitoring Volunteer Duties

Volunteer Monitor ResponsibilitiesPhoto submitted by Mark Holleback, Riveredge Nature Center

  • Attend training sessions to become familiar with the equipment and monitoring forms and procedures
  • Collect data prescribed on data form on a monthly basis during spring & summer until the ephemeral pond dries up (equipment will be provided)
  • Adhere to the monitoring schedule
  • Report results to Riveredge
  • Attend debriefing meeting at the end of the year
  • Complete an evaluation at the end of the season
  • Take care of the equipment & return it in good condition

Qualifications

  • No science background is needed (although it’s helpful)
  • Ability to walk on uneven ground & enter water to access a monitoring site
  • Enjoyment of the outdoors
