Wisconsin Ephemeral Ponds Project Volunteer Responsibilities


Responsibilities and Commitment

  • Attend program orientation and training sessions in their entirety to become familiar with monitoring methods, equipment, forms, and data entry procedures
  • Work as part of a team of volunteers to conduct the monitoring
  • Visit a minimum of three ponds with your team during 2009Photo of citizen monitors.
  • Visit each pond at least once; three or more visits may be necessary
  • Commit a total of 15-20 hours between April & October 2009 to monitor these ponds
  • Report results to Wisconsin DNR
  • Complete an evaluation at the end of the season
  • Take care of the equipment & return it in good condition

Qualifications

  • No science background is needed (although it’s helpful)
  • Ability to walk on uneven ground & enter water
  • Enjoyment of the outdoors
