Surface Water Integrated Monitoring Sytem (SWIMS) Online Database

The Surface Water Integrated Monitoring System (SWIMS) online database is used by Level 2 and 3 Volunteer Stream Monitors to enter their data. Level 1 monitors enter their data to a separate online database.

new WAV will be transitioning its databases so that volunteers in all three levels of the program enter their data results into the SWIMS database in 2015. All existing data in the Level 1 database will be moved into SWIMS in late 2014. WAV will provide training to existing volunteer monitors in how to use SWIMS in early 2015. In order to make this shift, all volunteer monitors who plan to monitor in 2015 who have never used SWIMS must register to use the system.

The first step in the registration process is that all first time users must obtain a Wisconsin Access Management System (WAMS) User ID and establish a password. Follow directions below to set up your account and access the database.

Troubleshooting SWIMS

Some people have troubles with SWIMS as they have pop-ups blocked, so certain windows never appear when they are using SWIMS. Christina Anderson and Molli MacDonald created some short videos demonstrating how to allow pop-ups when using Internet Explorer and Chrome.
