7th Annual Volunteer Stream Monitoring Symposium

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, University of Wisconsin- Extension Environmental Resources Center, and River Alliance of Wisconsin are hosting the 7th annual Symposium for volunteer stream monitors, local program coordinators, county, DNR and UWEX staff, and others interested in volunteer stream monitoring. Please join us for this opportunity to:

  • Better understand how volunteers contribute to help DNR meet monitoring needs
  • Build your knowledge of one of the most common pollutants in Wisconsin's waters - phosphorus
  • Obtain the latest information about aquatic invasive species in Wisconsin's streams
  • Understand what you can do to help keep driveways and sidewalks safe, while minimizing the use of salt
  • Share your news and hear from other local monitoring groups about their ongoing and upcoming activities
  • Network with other citizens and groups participating in volunteer stream monitoring

February 14, 3:00 - 5:00 PM Social hour and presentation by Adam Freihofer and Mark Hazuga - free to attend (cash bar); This event bridges the two symposia

February 14, 5:30-7:00 PM Volunteer Stream Moniotring Symposium dinner and awards

Saturday, February 15, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM Volunteer Stream Monitoring Symposium

Location: Dreyfus University Center at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point (1015 Reserve Street, Stevens Point, WI 54481);

Parking Information: Parking is availble in Lot R which is across Reserve Street from the Dreyfus University Center. On Friday you must park in a spot that is metered. On Saturday, since the University is not operating, you can park in the non-metered spots. The exception is if you are driving a state of Wisconsin vehicle (state owned) you can park anywhere in the lot on either day. See here for a campus map:
